Where the cathedral doors are and how to get there
The entrance depends on where you bought the ticket. Online tickets go in through the Puerta del Lagarto, while tickets bought at the window go in through the Puerta del Príncipe, also called the Puerta de San Cristóbal. The Cabildo de la Catedral de Sevilla asks visitors to be at the door ten minutes before their entry time.
The nearest stop is Archivo de Indias on the T1 tram, 156 metres away. Puerta de Jerez on metro line 1 is 471 metres away, and the C5 bus stops at Plaza de la Contratación, 215 metres from the cathedral. From the airport, the EA bus stops at Paseo Cristóbal Colón (Torre del Oro), 454 metres away, which suits a visit on the day your flight lands, as long as the luggage goes to the hotel first.
What time to book, by season
The time on the ticket sets the order of the day, because the visit begins with the Giralda climb and then continues through the cathedral with no time limit until closing. A 5.30pm ticket in September or October still gets the tower. Once the ticket is scanned there is no re-entry, so the visit is done in one go.
For most of the year, the hours the Cabildo publishes run from 10.45am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and from 2.30pm to 7pm on Sundays, with the ticket office and last entry at 6pm. July and August open at 9.30am Monday to Saturday and at 12.30pm on Sundays, close at 6pm, and stop admitting visitors, tower included, at 5pm. During the August novena for the Virgen de los Reyes, opening can slip to 11am, so a summer visit is worth checking against the day’s calendar when booking. In a month when Seville’s mean daily maximum reaches 36.0°C, the 9.30am start is the best time to go.
Semana Santa runs on its own timetable: the Cabildo sets special hours for that week every year, which can close the cultural visit on some days and shorten it on others, so check that year’s hours on the cathedral’s site before buying.

The tariff the Cabildo sets for general admission is 13 euros online against 14 euros at the window, and the reduced rate is 7 euros online and 8 euros at the window. Booking ahead saves 1 euro and secures a slot in a building that caps capacity in both the nave and the tower.
The guided visit is the exception: 20 euros online plus a 1 euro handling fee per ticket lands on the same 21 euros charged at the window.

Buy only through the cathedral’s official sales channel. The Cabildo warns against unauthorised resellers, a common scam around Seville’s big monuments, and states that arriving late or without the paperwork for a reduced or free ticket gives no right to a refund.
Who gets in free, and how the free Sunday visit works
The free categories that the Cabildo recognises are four, each needing official proof: people born or living in the Archdiocese of Seville, which covers the city and the whole province; children up to 13 with an adult; people with a disability of 65 per cent or more, plus a companion where justified; and unemployed Spanish nationals.
Reduced rates go to over-65s, students up to 25, people with a disability between 33 and 65 per cent and holders of a large-family card.
For everyone else there is the free public visit on Sundays outside public holidays. Entry runs from 4.30pm to 6pm, capacity is limited and booking is online only. It covers the cathedral, the Giralda and El Salvador, and once inside you can stay until the building closes at 7pm. With summer last entry at 5pm, the slot does not fit July or August, so check the booking calendar before planning around it.
The Real Alcázar de Sevilla runs a different rule: its free entry is for people born or living in the municipality only, so a resident of a provincial town may enter the cathedral free and still pay at the palace. Its own ticket rules and opening seasons set the other half of a two-monument day.
How long to allow, and fitting in El Salvador and the Real Alcázar
The Cabildo estimates 75 minutes for the cathedral and the Giralda and 90 minutes for a guided visit, and suggests allowing about 90 minutes for a calm visit.

The Church of El Salvador sits about 460 metres north, a six-minute walk, and its hours differ from the cathedral’s: 10.15am to 6pm Monday to Thursday, 10.15am to 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2.30pm to 7.30pm on Sundays. The Real Alcázar opens 9.30am to 5pm from October to March and until 7pm from April to September. In winter it goes in the morning and the cathedral in the afternoon, with entry until 6pm; in July and August the order flips, because the cathedral stops admitting at 5pm.
